Lydia Lunch has for the past 3 decades forged a unique body of work that bares testimony to a creative schizophrenia which encompasses film, poetry, the spoken & written word, music and photography. She was voted by "Time Out New York" as one of the most influential performers originating from NYC and has worked with dozens of musical renegades including Sonic Youth, Omar Rodriguez, Nick Cave and Einstürzende Neubauten. Her large and diverse body of work typically features provocative and confrontational delivery and has maintained an anti-commercial, do-it-yourself ethic, operating independently of major labels and distribution deals.

Philippe Petit is interested in soundtracks, even if he creates original music he'd rather be introduced as a "musical travel agent" than a composer. Petit uses turntables and laptops to build up electronic layers and take advantage of vinyl material to fondle released sounds. A journalist for various magazines and radio as well as a musical activist, In 2014 Petit will celebrate his 30th year of sharing his musical passions.

CONCEPT BEHIND THE SERIES
The "play loud! (live) music series" parts from three ideas, Alan Lomax's work as an archivist and chronicler, John Peel's BBC radio sessions and the work of Direct Cinema pioneers, such as, Maysles Brothers, Leacock, Wildenhahn and Pennebaker. Filming live shows meant not to do it in a TV style but in a very personal, intuitive and adventurous style – nothing is staged for filming. You go along as it happens. Some of the live performances are filmed with only one camera in one continuous shot without any edits. Some critics have labeled it as "filmed paintings/painted films". play loud!'s music films have been called: "raw", "rough", "canny", "straightforward", "adventurous", "witty", "insightful", "direct", "non-tricksy", "economic", "minimal", "unpretentious handheld camera work", "artful film paintings" … play loud!'s intention is to furthermore create an extensive archive of interesting popular music that includes also the possibility to screen/stream material that comes from other sources. Some of the recordings - if popular demand is strong - will be offered as limited vinyl LPs.
